50 States of Coffee: Connecticut

Finding a coffee shop that just speaks and vibes with you is rare but in Connecticut, we found a coffee shop that not only grabbed our hearts but the heart of the town. We're talking about 'The Bean @226' in Windsor, Connecticut!

We chose The Bean as our Connecticut coffee pick because not only do they have amazing coffee but they also have a range of items you can get for all walks of life. The Bean has Vegan and Regular options for food and coffee and if you have any questions the owner is always nearby. Along with being accepting of people's food choices this coffee shop is also LGBTQ+ friendly, witchy friendly, has treats for the pups, and supports local artists and shops.

Food-inclusive options including vegan Jamaican bean patties.

In the back of the shop they have works of art from local artists and writers for purchase and if you have a sweet tooth they also have local syrups from nearby farms. They also have stickers and candles that are made by local crafters! Lots of the art in the local bean is also provided by local artists which makes sense provided that The Bean is the local hotspot and epicenter right across from the town hall and library.

If getting in touch with your celestial or witchy side is more your speed or you just want to have coffee somewhere mystical and magical this place has that covered too by having a section dedicated to crystals, wish candles, sage, and more! They also have cleansing kits for the beginner witch and lots of other mystical items that have all been kept a-okay for spells.

Little Mystical section with crystals, kits, candles, and herbs.

However, to be a 50 States of Coffee pick we look not just for aesthetics but look at affordability, service, and atmosphere. The service here definitely goes above and beyond not only with your coffee but helping if you need advice on crystals, finding things to do nearby, and if you have a pup they'll happily point you to the hidden biscuit jar. In terms of affordability, the coffee for the largest size for regular things like cappuccinos and mochas the price is about $4.

The most expensive menu drink is only $5.25 for a honey latte made with local honey and a dirty chai. They also have food for $7 and under (except the lox) with vegan and salad options available making this affordable as well. When it comes to a relaxing atmosphere this place can't be beat! The shop has plenty of tables for you to sit and work at and also has outside seating. You won't get any stares here (this was tested) and can relax, practice music outside, etc.

Stare test. Only author Josh stared.

All in all 'The Bean @226' takes the pick and trophy for our 50 States of Coffee Connecticut Section; and is a must-see must stop place in the heart of Connecticut's oldest town of Windsor, Connecticut.
